July 2025 • Solo
This trip felt like it was designed for people who truly want to see Kyrgyzstan, not just pass through it. As a solo traveler, I was hoping for a route that combined strong landscapes with a sense of safety and good organization, and that is exactly what I got. Song-Kul was magical — arriving in time for sunset over the yurts and then waking up to that soft morning light over the lake was one of the most memorable travel moments I have had anywhere. Kel-Suu was another major highlight. The journey there already felt remote and special, but the lake itself was even more dramatic than I expected, especially with the cliffs and changing light. I also loved that the route mixed those huge natural scenes with cultural moments like photographing eagle hunters and nomadic life. It never felt staged or superficial. The whole trip had a natural rhythm, from high pastures to canyons, valleys, and mountain passes, and it stayed visually exciting the entire time.
