The Hazret Sultan Mosque is the largest and one of the most impressive religious monuments in Astana. It was opened in 2012 and is located on a territory of 13 hectares. The central dome reaches a height of 51 meters, while four minarets rise to 77 meters. The mosque can accommodate about 10,000 people at the same time. The interior is designed in harmony with traditional Kazakh patterns and Islamic ornaments. The complex also includes a library and classrooms. Hazret Sultan has become a symbol of the country's spiritual revival, faith, and unity, as well as an important landmark of the capital, attracting both believers and tourists.
History
The Hazret Sultan Mosque is one of the most modern attractions in Astana today. It is the largest mosque in Central Asia, built by one thousand five hundred workers over three years until its opening. The building itself resembles an eastern palace and is a stunning architectural monument in the city of Astana. The mosque features a dome that is 51 meters high and 28 meters in diameter. At the corners of the mosque, you will see four 77-meter minarets, and around the main dome, there are eight smaller domes. The classic eastern style distinguishes the Hazret Sultan Mosque. White was chosen as the primary color for the facade and interior. Massive white columns adorn the central hall of the mosque, enhancing the sense of monumentality of this beautiful creation. Traditional Kazakh ornaments abound in the interior decoration and facade. The mosque can accommodate up to ten thousand people at once, located on a 11-hectare site. It includes a wedding hall alongside the prayer hall, a washing area, a cloakroom, and rooms for seminar lessons and Quran reading.
