

New Institution of Contemporary Art
Almaty Museum of Arts will be a venue for exhibitions, artistic projects, publishing activities, and educational initiatives for children and adults. The focus is on the art of Central Asia and cultural dialogue with neighboring regions.

Nurlan Smagulov's Collection
The museum is based on the personal collection of Nurlan Smagulov, which has been formed over more than 30 years and includes over 700 works of Kazakh art. The collection continues to grow and encompasses various genres and media of contemporary art from Kazakhstan, Central Asia, and neighboring countries.

Architecture and Space of the Museum
The building was designed by Chapman Taylor in collaboration with Lord Cultural Resources and Buro Happold. Inside, there are halls for permanent and temporary exhibitions, a multifunctional hall, a storage facility, a restoration workshop, educational workshops, a café, and a shop. Opening: Fall 2025. Total area: 8900 m².
