Urban Vibe of Almaty
Almaty Arbat is the pedestrian part of Zhibek Zholy Street, located between Kunaev and Abay Khan Streets. People come here for the atmosphere, meetings, and urban energy.
After the renovation, it has become particularly comfortable: wide sidewalks, convenient benches, children's and workout zones. Along the route, there are many cafes and restaurants, as well as the Passage shopping center and TSUM, cinemas, and shops.
History
Arbat has been a city attraction since the times when Almaty was called Verny: the quarter around Zhibek Zholy was part of the commercial center. In the 1990s, the pedestrian street became especially popular — life thrived here, musicians and artists performed, and city gatherings took place.
Today, Arbat continues this tradition: street creativity, small events, and evening strolls. It is one of the most recognizable routes for guests and locals.
