Project / Product & Operations Manager
Turn itineraries into well-designed products, connect sales with tour operations, and launch useful digital services. We need someone who owns the outcome, not just the task list.
About Kazakh.travel
Kazakh.travel is a growing Kazakhstan tour operator with 18,000 website visitors a month. We create original, private and group journeys, work with local guides and help guests discover more of the country. Our next chapter is TravelTech: clear products, reliable partners and services that make travel simpler.
What you will do
- Audit existing tours and decide which need better itineraries, revised costs, further development or removal from the catalog.
- Build a standard tour specification covering the itinerary, timings, logistics, seasonality, restrictions, inclusions and cancellation terms.
- Calculate costs and margins for different group sizes; develop clearly differentiated Economy, Comfort and Premium packages.
- Discover lesser-known destinations in Kazakhstan, validate demand and economics, and arrange pilot trips with tour coordinators.
- Develop the guide and partner network: vetting, commercial terms, current rates and availability, service standards and quality checks.
- Connect sales and operations through structured customer feedback, clear approval of custom requests and an up-to-date product catalog.
- Interview guests and colleagues, track conversion, margins, cancellations and feedback, and turn findings into improvements.
- Prioritize work, write clear requirements for developers, take improvements through launch and check their value for customers and the business.
- Use AI for research, content preparation and process automation; work with the founder on the next stage of our TravelTech product.
What matters to us
- Ownership and independence: you can make sense of an unclear problem, propose a solution and follow through.
- Practical examples of improving products, projects or operations. Years of experience and impressive job titles matter less than your work.
- An understanding of costs, margins and pricing, with confidence using spreadsheets and calculations.
- The ability to interview customers, test assumptions and distinguish demonstrated demand from personal opinions.
- Clear communication with sales, coordinators, suppliers and developers, with documented priorities and agreements.
- Practical use of AI tools and a habit of checking their output. Coding is not a requirement for this role.
- English at B2 or above; curiosity about the cultures of Kazakhstan and Central Asia, and attention to individual guest expectations rather than stereotypes.
- Availability to work with the team in Almaty and join agreed partner visits. Tourism, hospitality or startup experience is a plus.
What we offer
- A salary of KZT 250,000–550,000 per month, with the specific financial terms agreed before you start.
- A full-time role in Almaty. We will discuss the schedule and working arrangements during the interview.
- A one-month paid probation period with tasks and success criteria agreed in advance.
- Direct collaboration with the founder, sales team, tour coordinators and developers, without unnecessary layers of approval.
- A real say in our tours, processes and digital product, rather than simply following a predefined task list.
- The opportunity to grow with a tourism business building its own TravelTech offering.
- Potential future equity options, subject to separately agreed conditions. The amount, timing and formal arrangements will be discussed separately.
Your first month: learn, structure, deliver
- Create a register of active tours, identify missing data and agree on priorities with the team.
- Build a tour specification and cost calculator, then test them on a small, jointly agreed selection of existing tours.
- Agree with sales and operations on request handovers, change approvals and customer feedback collection.
- Present a 90-day plan for catalog improvements, discovery of one new route and a focused first step toward our TravelTech product.
Let's meet
Send your CV or a profile link and a few lines about yourself. A short example of your work matters more to us than a long cover letter.
What we will discuss
- How would you improve a tour that has a route but no detailed costing or reliable historical data?
- How would you organize sales and tour coordination so that customer promises match what the team can deliver?
- Tell us about a task you independently took through to a result. Where did AI help, and what did you verify yourself?
Your application goes to our team via WhatsApp or email. No lengthy presentation or fully developed strategy is required.
