Kazakhstan allows visa-free entry for citizens of 54 countries for up to 30 days by air and land. See the table below for details.
Additional visa-free regimes:
- Up to 90 days: Georgia, Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Mongolia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan.
- Up to 30 days: Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Serbia, Turkey, UAE, South Korea.
- Up to 14 days: China, India, Hong Kong, Iran.
These rules apply to holders of national passports. Since June 2022, PCR tests and vaccination certificates are not required to enter Kazakhstan. For official guidance, consult the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Foreign nationals enter/leave Kazakhstan with a valid passport and a Kazakh visa, unless a visa-free arrangement applies. Crossing is via international checkpoints; passports are stamped on entry/exit. Diplomatic/service passports and investor categories may use simplified procedures. Some visa-free arrangements with neighboring states remain in force.
When entry may be denied
- National security, public order or public health risks.
- Extremism/terrorism involvement, or actions against sovereignty/territorial integrity; incitement of ethnic/religious hatred.
- Prior serious violations, false information, missing documents, insufficient funds, medical contraindications.
Visas & migration cards
Visas are issued by Kazakh diplomatic/consular offices, typically based on an invitation or authorization. Migration cards are issued on arrival and must be kept during the stay. Host organizations' applications can be declined if they recently failed to register guests properly.
