Our private Altyn Emel tour was honestly one of the most memorable travel days we have had in Central Asia. The feeling of space inside the national park is hard to describe until you see it yourself. The Singing Dune was spectacular, and the whole route felt calm, scenic, and very well planned. This tour gave me exactly what I was hoping for: silence, striking nature, and a sense of discovering a very special part of Kazakhstan. Pick-up in Almaty and departure toward Altyn-Emel National Park.
Arrival at Basshy village — the gateway to the park — followed by immediate continuation to the Singing Dune. Enjoy an approximately 1-hour hike to the top, with time to take in panoramic views of the surrounding desert and Ili River valley.
Continue to the Aktau Mountains for a 1-hour walking exploration of the area’s most scenic viewpoints and unique geological formations.
Lunch.
After lunch, proceed to the Katutau Mountains for a short walk and exploration of the volcanic landscapes.
On the return journey, stop at the historic 700-year-old willow tree.
Drive back to Almaty. Drop-off.
