At first glance, nothing prepares you for what lies ahead. As you approach Charyn Canyon, it looks like endless steppe stretching to the horizon. Only when you reach the edge does the landscape suddenly open up, revealing dramatic cliffs and the winding road leading down into the famous Valley of Castles.
