This tour felt like three very different journeys woven into one route, and that is exactly why we loved it. Kazakhstan gave us the dramatic start: Charyn Canyon was even more impressive than I expected, and the overnight in Saty made the first part of the trip feel much more personal than just a fast transfer between famous sights. Kaindy and Kolsai were completely different in mood — quieter, cooler, and almost meditative. Then Kyrgyzstan shifted everything again with alpine valleys, hot springs, red rock formations, and that wide-open Issyk-Kul landscape. By the time we reached Uzbekistan, the trip changed into something more architectural and historical, with Samarkand and Bukhara bringing an entirely new rhythm. What stood out was how well the itinerary built from raw nature into culture and urban history. Serik kept the whole journey steady and easy to follow, even on long transfer days. It never felt like a random collection of stops. It felt like a proper expedition through a region.

I booked this because I wanted a route that combined mountains and Silk Road cities, but I did not expect it to feel this rich. The Charyn–Saty–Kaindy–Kolsai section alone would have been worth doing, especially because staying in the village added atmosphere and broke up the journey nicely. Then Kyrgyzstan brought a more adventurous feeling: Karakol, the mountain roads, Altyn Arashan, hot springs, and Jeti-Oguz all felt more rugged and alive. I also loved that the trip did not skip local culture — the eagle hunting experience could have felt touristy, but here it felt genuinely memorable and well integrated into the route. Uzbekistan was the perfect final chapter. After all the natural scenery, arriving in Samarkand felt almost theatrical, and Bukhara had a depth and calmness that really stayed with me. Olzhas was patient, funny, and very good at handling the practical side of a multi-country itinerary without making the trip feel overly managed.

This was one of the few organized tours I have taken that actually felt bigger than the brochure. The landscapes in the first half were outstanding — Charyn, Kaindy, Kolsai, and later the valleys and canyons in Kyrgyzstan — but what made the tour special was the contrast. You begin with cliffs, lakes, villages, and rougher mountain energy, and then you gradually move into the monumental architecture of Uzbekistan. That transition works beautifully. I especially liked Karakol and the day around Altyn Arashan, where the route felt more off-the-beaten-path and less like a standard scenic stop. Fairy Tale Canyon also surprised me more than expected. Then in Uzbekistan, Samarkand had the grand visual impact, while Bukhara felt more atmospheric and layered. Aset was excellent throughout — knowledgeable, calm, and very good at judging when people needed information and when they simply wanted to look out the window and take it all in.

For us, the best thing about this trip was its balance. It was active without becoming exhausting, cultural without becoming too museum-heavy, and adventurous without ever feeling chaotic. I loved that the itinerary began so strongly with Charyn Canyon and then immediately moved into the lake region. The guesthouse night in Saty was one of those simple travel moments that ends up becoming a favorite memory. Kyrgyzstan added a completely different kind of beauty — more pastoral, more nomadic in feeling, with some genuinely stunning drives and valley scenery. By the time we reached Bishkek and then crossed into Uzbekistan, the tour felt as though it was opening a new layer rather than repeating itself. Samarkand was dazzling, of course, but I may have preferred Bukhara for its atmosphere. Serik made the long route feel very coherent, and that matters a lot on a 10-day trip crossing three countries.

June 2025 • Family

We joined this tour as a family and were slightly unsure whether the route would be too ambitious, but it actually worked very well. The pacing was smart. The first days in Kazakhstan were scenic and memorable, especially Charyn and the lakes, and staying in Saty gave the trip a warmer, more local feel. In Kyrgyzstan, the nature became more varied and the views around Jeti-Oguz and Barskoon were beautiful in a very different way from Kazakhstan. The eagle hunting experience was also one of the highlights for us because it added something cultural and human, not just another landscape stop. Uzbekistan gave the route a strong finish. After days of mountains and valleys, Samarkand and Bukhara felt grand and deeply historical. Olzhas was extremely helpful and good-humored throughout, and he was especially good at making sure the family side of the trip remained smooth and comfortable.
