Getting There
Most travelers reach Patinoire de Medeo (Medeu) from Almaty or another major regional hub. Private transfers, guided tours, and self-drive routes are the most practical options depending on the season and road conditions.

Construction of the Medeu sports complex began in 1949, and the first official competitions were held in 1951. The artificial ice stadium, covering more than 10,500 square meters, was completed in 1972, turning Medeu into one of the most famous high-altitude skating rinks in the world.
